I thought it was interesting Madonna’s presence wasn’t evident in the new 2Pac biopic. Clearly, she meant something to him but she was nowhere to be found in the film. I get that it’s a movie and you only have much time but some things are crucial to a narrative.
I have other issues with that movie but that’s not what this post is about.
2pac and Madonna dated for a brief period of time. The legendary pop megastar admitted to it a few years ago on Howard Stern after rumors of the two have been circulating for decades.
While incarcerated, Pac penned a few words to Madonna revealing that race played a part in the split.
“For you to be seen with a black man wouldn’t in any way jeopardize your career, if anything it would make you seem that much more open and exciting. But for me at least in my previous perception, I felt due to my ‘image’ I would be letting down half of the people who made me what I thought I was. I never meant to hurt you.”
At the end of the letter, Pac asked her to visit him at the end of the letter so they could talk about what he wrote about, no one has confirmed that meeting ever happened.
