Charlamagne Tha God: “Kanye West Doesn’t Respect Anybody Else’s Artistry”

Say what you want about Charlamagne Tha God, you can never say he’s not consistent in his onions on anyone, one of his favourite targets is Kanye West. While being interviewed by Larry King, Charlamagne, weighed in on Ye’s latest Grammy controversy.

His opinions were what you would expect, The Breakfast Club host sides with Beck. Charlamagne found it funny, right up until he realized Kanye was actually serious. He doesn’t understand why Knaye thinks Beck should give his award to Beyonce.

It worked until I realized he actually was serious,” Charlamagne says. “‘Cause if you saw the after-show he did on E!, then he went into this whole rant about how Beck needed to respect Beyonce’s artistry and give his award away to Beyonce, which I think is super whack because Kanye’s calling for somebody to respect people’s artistry, but he doesn’t respect anybody else’s artistry.”

He feels Kanye only wants people to like what he likes.

Kanye West wants us to respect the artistry that he likes. If he likes it, then we all should like it. If he doesn’t like it, then we shouldn’t like it, which is hypocritical.”

Kanye claimed that he was only joking around after the awards in an interview with Ryan Seacrest.

What I really wanted to do is just joke around about what had happened before [with Taylor Swift], but I just really didn’t want to take away from Beck’s moment.”

I’m very conflicted about this whole thing because I do agree with Charlamagne but at the same time on some level I some ways agree with Yeezy as well, in terms of the Grammys not really respecting the rap categories, that doesn’t mean Beck doesn’t deserve the award though.

And hey, Kendrick Lamar did take two awards home.
