Popcaan aka Hotskull aka Poppie has bee one of the front runners for the reemergence of Dancehall and Reggae, out of all the albums I’ve heard and reviewed this year across all genres, Popcaan’s summer release album “Where We Come From” is by far the most played on my list.
It’s one of the best Dancehall albums I’ve heard in a long time, I was pleasantly surprised that Popcaan had developed into such a versatile artist.
He’s now here to to end the year off with a new visual from the album for one of my favourite track, it’s called “Love Yuh Bad” and it’s produced by Dre Skull.
The Nile Saulter directed visual finds Hotskull and his queen in the rain forests of St. Thomas where the natural vibes flow (inna back-to-nature Adam and Eve style). This video should really be picked up by the Jamaica Tourist Board because after you watch it you will want to book two tickets to paradise like Eddie Money. Watching Popaan and his lady boiling bananas, burning spliffs, and playing in the river serves as a timely reminder that you don’t have to have a big fat roasted turkey in the oven to give thanks.
