Kendrick Lamar Knocks Off Drake’s Spotify Stream Record with “To Pimp A Butterfly”

Move over Drizzy, King Kunta has Taken The Number one Spot for Most Streams in a Day

Kendrcik Lamar

Last month Drake surprised the internet with a mixtape turned album release entitled “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late,” the project went on set a new record for most streams in a week on Spotify.

Fast forward to earlier this week, Kendrick Lamar had a surprise of his own – which was releasing his highly anticipate sophomore effort “To Pimp A Butterfly” a week early.

This was an accident, allegedly. But seeing as this is now the era of release dates being played out, I don’t believe Kendrick Lamar and his team are above pulling a fast one on us by saying the release was a blunder when it really wasn’t.

We’ll never know.

Nonetheless the record is here now and it’s quite a interesting project and apparently many others think so as well.

According to the Top Dawg Entertainment bosses, the effort was streamed close to 10 million times on the first day globally, making history for a release of an album.

I’ve personally played the album 7 times already, I’m sure I’ll be double digits before the day is out.

Thoughts on the album?
